The Pullman Regional Hospital Women’s Leadership Guild awarded $3,000 to the non-profit Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, at the annual Girlfriends Gather event held on May 27.

The online event drew 30 women who each made a $100 contribution to nominate an eligible non-profit of their choice to keep all donations. To be eligible, the non-profits must align with the mission to serve women’s and children’s health and wellness in Whitman, Latah, Nez Perce or Asotin County.

16 non-profits were nominated at the event, and three were drawn at random to present their case. Event attendees, Sandra Woodrow, spoke on behalf of Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse. After the three presentations, all attendees submitted their vote for one of the three.

“The Girlfriends Gather funding supports ATVP in providing free, confidential, and comprehensive services for individuals and families impacted by domestic or sexual violence here on the Palouse,” explained Andrea Piper, ATVP Assistant Director. “In the last year, ATVP experienced a 20% increase to services. This funding will help us meet the rising demand and survivor needs by supporting critical 24/7 crisis hotline and advocacy response services. This ensures survivors have immediate and around-the-clock access to help, shelter, and resources.”

“The Women’s Leadership Guild is proud to support many non-profit agencies that empower women and children on the Palouse,” said Karen Davis-Morris, Chair of the Women’s Leadership Guild. “Our 3rd Annual Girlfriends Gather event was a wonderful way to support Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse.”
