PULLMAN, WA – On March 20, 2026, Pullman Regional Hospital learned the names of the three newest additions to the three-year Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Family Medicine Residency Program in Pullman.

Every year on Match Day, the National Resident Matching Program announces where medical students will go for their residency, following graduation from medical school.

The three residents headed to Pullman are Olesya Didyuk [pronounced oh-LEH-syah DEED-yook], a medical student at Poznan University of Medical Sciences Center in Poznań, Poland from Vancouver, BC, Canada; Shaunicy Sturm [pronounced SHAWN-uh-see], a medical student at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV from Las Vegas, NV; and Zhengtao Zhang [pronounced jung-taow jahng] a medical student at Trinity School of Medicine in Ribishi, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines from Surrey, BC, Canada.

This is the fourth cohort for the Pullman Regional Hospital-based WSU Family Medicine Residency Program. Didyuk, Sturm and Zhang will join second and third-year physician residents in Pullman this summer. With nine physician residents, the Pullman program has a full complement of residency positions.

This year, the Pullman-based residents were selected from more than 450 applicants. Of the applications received, 86 individuals representing 45 medical schools were interviewed for the three available positions.

“I continue to be impressed by the strong interest in our program,” said Dr. Stephen Hall, program director for the WSU Family Medicine Residency Program - Pullman. “As we welcome our fourth cohort, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built. It’s only possible because of our outstanding faculty, the support of local physicians, the team at Pullman Regional Hospital, WSU, and the broader community, all of whom have helped our residents feel truly at home in Pullman.”

In addition to Dr. Hall, members of the Pullman-based Residency Leadership Team include Dr. Molly Thompson, Associate Program Director; Dr. Brenna Harris, Dr. Katie Hryniewicz, Dr. Jennifer Shonk and Dr. Molly Webber.

During their three-year residency program at Pullman, residents experience rotations through specialties of pediatrics, surgery, emergency medicine, obstetrics and others. Physician residents also see and treat patients, alongside family medicine physicians Drs. Harris, Shonk, Thompson and Webber, at the Family Medicine Residency Center, located at 825 SE Bishop Blvd., Suite 401, Pullman, WA 99163, inside Pullman Regional Hospital.

“Rural communities have long faced challenges in accessing family medicine, and we are committed to training and developing physicians right here in Pullman,” said Matt Forge, CEO of Pullman Regional Hospital. “Through our partnership with WSU, we’re building sustainable solutions to expand access to primary care and better serve our community. We’re so excited to welcome our fourth cohort of physician residents to Pullman–a place we’re confident they’ll love and call home.”

The WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Family Medicine Residency Program - Pullman earned accreditation in May 2021 and is the college’s first rural residency. Construction of the Residency Center at Pullman Regional Hospital was funded entirely through philanthropy through the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation and the WSU College of Medicine.
