PULLMAN, WA—Rueben Mayes, Pullman Regional Hospital Chief Development & External Relations Officer has taken a new position with Seattle Children’s Hospital as the Regional Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer; he will work remotely and continue to reside in Pullman. His last day at the hospital is September 30.
Mayes started his career at Pullman Regional Hospital in 2013 and helped raise more than $20 million through donations, fundraising events and grant awards.

Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation is a registered non-profit; an 18-member board of volunteer directors governs donated funds and four endowments. 100% of donated and granted dollars are invested or transferred to the hospital to support yearly projects through an annual giving program, outreach medicine programs like the Regional High School Athletic Training program, and endowed funds for cardiology, orthopedics, physician leadership and the Scott K. Adams Endowment for Healthcare Quality & Access.
Current Foundation Board leadership includes President Karlene Beaumont, Past-President Pat Wright, Vice-President Ray Wallace, and Treasurer Adrian Green.
The hospital has used the philanthropic funds to remodel and build patient care spaces, purchase medical technology and fund programs. Under Mayes’ leadership, the Foundation grew annual fundraising goals from $240,000 to $2.4 million. He established a comprehensive strategy and grew avenues for donors to give, including online giving, qualified charitable distributions, bequest and estate gifts, gifts of life insurance policies, memorials, endowments and guilds.
Most recently, the Foundation concluded a successful $7.6 million campaign, The Next Era of Excellence, which ran from 2019 to 2021. The campaign secured an additional $1 million for the COVID-19 Emergency Fund, fully funded construction of the Family Medicine Residency Center and supported purchasing a new electronic medical record system and expansion of surgical services with the da Vinci Xi robotic-assisted surgical system.
