Pullman, WA—As a part of Hospital Week celebrations, Pullman Regional Hospital recognized Nadia Rivas, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Emergency Department as Outstanding Employee for 2023, and Stephanie Knewbow, Registered Nurse and Director of the Emergency Department with the Nurse Excellence Award for 2023.

Rivas has worked at Pullman Regional Hospital for five years as a CNA in the Emergency Department. She was nominated by four of her colleagues for the annual honor of Outstanding Employee and was selected from a pool of ten nominees.

Colleagues of Rivas described her as “perpetually cheerful, helpful and proactive,” “loved by her patients,” and “Nadia has an infectious positive energy that improves any shift she’s on.” Additional comments noted her strong work ethic, intelligence, and desire to always learn. She was described as going above and beyond her job through her vigilance in anticipating patient needs.

Knewbow has worked at Pullman Regional Hospital for 11 years as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department and now serves as Director. She was nominated by four of her colleagues for the yearly Nurse Excellence honor and was selected from a pool of nine nominees.

One colleague described Knewbow as “responsive, smart, and exceedingly humble,” while another wrote, “Stephanie is a great nurse leader, walking deftly between the patient, nursing, and physician worlds. She does a great job of communicating with patients and making them feel heard and making sure they receive the safe care they deserve.”

A third nomination read, “Steph is one of the many nurses at Pullman Regional Hospital who take a proactive approach to nursing care. As an organizational leader, Steph is tireless. She is never satisfied with the status quo. Not only does she continue to improve her areas of responsibility but also continues her own journey with formal educational development.”
