PULLMAN, WA – Kinsey Dewan, a Registered Nurse at Pullman Regional Hospital’s BirthPlace, was recently honored with a DAISY Award, part of an international recognition program celebrating nurses who go above and beyond to provide compassionate, skillful care.

Kinsey joined Pullman Regional as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2020 inspired by her sister, an occupational therapist. A job shadow experience in the hospital’s BirthPlace sparked an immediate love for maternity and newborn care, and now Kinsey has spent five years making memories with BirthPlace families.

Kinsey’s award is from a grateful patient who expressed her gratitude for Kinsey’s kindness and competence as a nightshift nurse during the birth of her second child. “Not only was Kinsey so incredibly confident and knowledgeable, she was so compassionate and made us feel so welcome,” wrote her patient.

When the baby had breathing complications, Kinsey was a grounding, reassuring presence. Her patient also wrote, “I am so thankful for the care that I, my husband, and baby boy received from Kinsey during our stay at the hospital. I can't thank her enough for being there for us during the tears, scary times, and then the happy moments at the end of our stay.”

“I work with the best people,” says Kinsey. “We have such a broad range of skills - every day is a different day, and I love that I get to be part of a patient’s experience through every phase of care.”

Kinsey remarks that she’s part of a special team at Pullman Regional and is grateful to Sarah Garibaldo, Hannah Hartz and Izzie Roepke, her nurse mentors and thankful to work for an organization that fosters growth and supports employees throughout the process of advancing from a CNA to Registered Nurse.
