Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Whether you have had a recent injury, are recovering from an orthopedic surgery, or are suffering from chronic pain, physical therapy can help you return to an optimum level of function and fitness. Pullman Regional Hospital is fortunate to have Summit Therapy and Health Services right here on our hospital campus, with a multitude of physical therapy services.  We also serve WSU students at our satellite physical therapy clinic on campus. It is best to speak with your primary physician or orthopedic surgeon to determine if you need physical therapy after your orthopedic procedure, and how long you'll need it for.

Non-Opioid Pain Management

Pullman Anesthesia, a trusted local anesthesia partner with physicians and surgeons, has provided anesthesia services at Pullman Regional Hospital for more than 30 years. We now offer the revolutionary radio frequency ablation procedure, called COOLIEF, for patients with arthritic pain of the knee, hip, and SI joint. With this minimally invasive treatment option, patients with chronic joint and back pain have a non-surgical, non-narcotic, pain management option.

How it works:

COOLIEF circulates water through a device while heating nervous tissue to create a treatment area that is larger than conventional RF treatments. This combination targets the pain-causing nerves without excessive heating, leading to pain relief.

Am I a candidate for COOLIEF?

Consider COOLIEF if you:

  • Struggle with chronic lower back pain, knee, hip, and other joint pain
  • Do not want to have surgery for your chronic pain
  • Want a non-narcotic treatment for your pain
  • Experience post-surgical joint replacement pain
How long does the treatment take?
Individual treatment times vary, but typical procedures take less than an hour.
Is there a recovery process?
Unlike surgery, COOLIEF involves no incision. This minimally-invasive outpatient treatment allows patients to return home shortly after the treatment.
Will my insurance cover COOLIEF treatment?
COOLIEF is covered by Medicare and has a pre-authorization team to assist with insurance questions and coordination. Click here for more information.

Stories and Testimonials from Orthopedic Patients

My 9th and 10th surgeries, bilateral replacement of both knees, were done at Pullman Regional Hospital. I’ve had surgery in Calgary and Tampa Bay and Tacoma, and a lot of different places. I’ve never seen anything like this at Pullman Regional – how comfortable it was and how good they are with the patients. The whole hospital, the nurses, and even the CNAs, I thought they were all nurses too, because they were so good.

My son, Kayden, fell and hurt his arm while playing. On our way to the Emergency Department, we saw our friend and physician, Dr. Tingstad in the hallway on his way out after a long day. He said, ‘let’s go take a look at it right now.’ He brought us back to his office and looked at the x-ray on his own free time to discover it was indeed broken and wrapped him in a soft cast right then and there. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Tingstad and other caring physicians who go above and beyond to care for us.
