PULLMAN, WA – Pullman Regional Hospital and the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine are celebrating a milestone for the Family Medicine Residency Program as its first cohort of physician residents, Dr. Jeff Ward and Dr. Mohammed Younes, prepare to graduate in June 2026.

Beginning their residency in 2023, Dr. Ward and Dr. Younes will become the first physicians to complete residency training through the Pullman-based program. The Family Medicine Residency Program was created through a partnership between Pullman Regional Hospital and Washington State University to train family medicine physicians in a community-based setting while expanding access to care across the Palouse and surrounding communities. Since welcoming its inaugural class, the program has grown into an important pipeline for developing and retaining highly skilled primary care physicians to enhance access for patients of all ages on the Palouse.

Dr. Mohammed Younes will graduate in June and has chosen to continue practicing in Pullman, where he will keep serving local patients. His decision to stay in the community reflects the residency program’s mission to strengthen local access to primary care.

Dr. Jeff Ward will also graduate from the program in June and is pursuing advanced fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the University of Maryland. During his time in Pullman, Dr. Ward cared for patients in the Family Medicine Residency Center while building strong relationships throughout the community.

“The graduation of our first resident physicians is a proud and meaningful moment for our hospital, our medical school partners, and our community,” said Dr. Stephen Hall, Family Medicine Residency Center Program Director. “Dr. Ward and Dr. Younes have provided compassionate, high-quality care to their patients while helping establish a strong foundation for the future of family medicine training in Pullman. It has been an absolute pleasure practicing alongside them for the past three years.”

The Pullman Regional Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency Center provides comprehensive primary care services, including preventive care, pediatrics, women’s health, sports medicine, chronic disease management, and care for patients of all ages. Resident physicians train under the supervision of experienced attending physicians while caring for patients in a team-based environment.

The Residency Center is located on the second level of Pullman Regional Hospital near Sid’s Pharmacy and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic is accepting new patients; to learn more, visit the Family Medicine Residency Center webpage or call (509) 336-7720.
