The Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation welcomes a new Board President, Wayne Druffel, and three new members to its Board of Directors—Brandon Burch, Marcia Saneholtz and Dave Williams

The Board of Directors for the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation–a non-profit charity–is composed of nineteen volunteers. During their three-year term, Directors provide management and stewardship over philanthropic gifts made to Pullman Regional Hospital, which benefit Pullman Regional’s patients and contribute to the overall health of the region.

Wayne Druffel, newly elected President of the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation board, joined in 2023. Over the past decade, Wayne Druffel and the Druffel family have been strong philanthropic partners, advocates and volunteers for Pullman Regional Hospital. Wayne co-chaired The Next Era of Excellence fundraising campaign, which raised more than $7.5 million for Pullman Regional Hospital and over $1 million for the COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

The Druffels established The Norm & Jessie Druffel Family Endowment in 2015, which helps support the hospital’s Orthopedic Center of Excellence and the Regional High School Athletic Training Program. Wayne, along with his brothers and his son Kurt, owns Norm Druffel & Sons, one of the largest wheat and grain producers in Whitman County. Wayne, an accomplished bowler, was inducted into the Washington State Bowling Congress’ Hall of Fame in 2005, and is the owner of Zeppoz Restaurant & Bowling.

Brandon Burch retired in 2019 after 30 years in Information Technology at the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife, Marilyn, are longtime Pullmanites. Marilyn retired in 2019 after almost 40 years as the Director of Nutritional Therapy at Pullman Regional Hospital. Brandon volunteers at the Pullman Depot Heritage Center, the WSU Lutheran Campus Ministry and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Marcia Saneholtz had a 28-year career as an Administrator at Washington State University, where she was a part of the Cougar Athletic Department through campus-defining and transformational periods. She was a guiding force in WSU’s transition from separate men’s and women’s athletic programs to one unified athletic department in the early 1980s. Saneholtz played a crucial role in WSU Athletics’ transition to an on-campus health care partnership with the university’s health and wellness and counseling services, as well as developed and managed WSU’s student athletic training program. Three times, she served as Interim Athletic Director at WSU and received numerous national honors for her work as an Administrator, including the NACWAA National Administrator of the Year. Marcia golfs in the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation’s Golf Classic each year with her team, Title IX. Marcia previously served on the Foundation board during the building of Pullman Regional Hospital in the early 2000s.

Dave Williams is an Electrical/System Engineer by trade. He worked in the aerospace, semiconductor, and federal government industries, and retired in 2016. His late wife, Ann, was a longtime hospital volunteer (winning the Volunteer of the Year award twice). He has since “picked up” where she left off, volunteering at Pullman Regional Hospital several times per week, as well as Circles of Caring. Dave is passionate about giving back and volunteering in the Pullman community.

About the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation

The Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is governed by volunteers, committed to continuing the hospital’s excellence in care and service. The Foundation Board is led by President Wayne Druffel and Treasurer Adrian Green. Directors are eligible for two consecutive three-year terms.

The Foundation supports Pullman Regional Hospital’s annual priority projects, as well as long-term programs, including the Family Medicine Residency Program, a partnership with WSU’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and the Regional High School Athletic Training Program, a partnership with local high schools. Unlike many charities, the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation does not charge an administrative fee, which means 100% of donations support projects and programs. The Foundation accepts various gift types, including cash, 5-year pledges, endowments and planned gifts, in partnership with the Planned Giving Advisory Council, chaired by Jeff Feuerstein.
