PULLMAN, WA— The annual fundraiser in support of Pullman Regional Hospital’s Athletic Training Program—serving four local high schools—is slated for Friday, August 2 at Red Barn Farms in Colton, WA and is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union.

The event, 5th Quarter Rally, is being hosted by Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Board member Ty Meyer and his wife, Kay, who own Red Barn Farms. A volunteer committee is planning the event and includes Foundation Board Members Wayne Druffel (Committee Chair), Ken Casavant, Pete Chittenden, Dr. James DeVleming, Dr. Rick Emtman, Jean Logan, Ty Meyer, and Amy Rogers.

The event begins at 5pm with a social and hosted bar, followed by a BBQ and impact stories from local student-athletes, coaches and athletic trainers. Tickets are $100 and must be purchased in advance online at www.pullmanregional.org/redbarn

Through Pullman Regional Hospital, full-service athletic training care is provided for more than 750 student-athletes at Colton, Garfield-Palouse, Potlatch and Pullman High Schools. Certified athletic trainers, employed by Pullman Regional, are embedded in each school; they see all student-athletes for injury prevention and treatment, concussion management and work with local physicians, dentists and optometrists to fast-track healthcare.

During the 2023-2024 school year, the team of athletic trainers provided around 6,000 treatments. Through the athletic training program, over $183,000 in care was provided at no additional cost to the school or parents. All assessments at the schools, taping, stretching and evaluations provided by the athletic trainers are done free of charge.

“The health and safety of our kids is priority number one and these athletic trainers are keeping our kids playing the sports they love. We need everyone to show up and support this program,” says Wayne Druffel, 5th Quarter Rally Committee Chair.
