Taylor Fore, Head Golf Professional at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, spends a lot of time out on the greens. When a knee injury started holding him back, he knew he had to take some time away from the golf course to help repair his knee.
Taylor Fore was a college football player, starting at wide receiver for the Texas A&M - Commerce Lions 2008-2011. Throughout his athletic career, and in the years that followed, Taylor has had multiple athletics-related surgeries on his knee and shoulder.
Taylor began researching and contacting orthopedic surgeons in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington to find a solution for his knee, which he injured while playing football. While he had had surgery before, his knee was now causing him problems again. The procedure Taylor originally had on his knee is no longer common practice, as medicine has adapted different standards of care and more advanced procedures.
Taylor initially reached out to Dr. Ed Tingstad, Orthopedic Surgeon at Inland Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Clinic, via email, having obtained his information from a friend who’d also received care from him. “Dr. Tingstad responded almost immediately,” says Taylor. “I forwarded him over my health history and recent MRI, then we had some phone consults prior to scheduling my surgical case.” As it turns out, Dr. Tingstad had experience working with patients with similar outcomes from outdated practices, just like Taylor!
“Dr. Tingstad was so thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. He spent a lot of time with me talking about future outcomes and why I was experiencing the condition with my knee after I’d had surgical procedures with it previously,” says Taylor. “Dr. Tingstad wasn’t pushy or focused on an immediate fix. He gave me all the information and the ability to make the decision on what happened next with my care.”
Taylor traveled to Pullman, WA, from Coeur d’Alene, ID, to have his procedure at Pullman Regional Hospital with Dr. Tingstad. “I’ve had a lot of surgical experiences, and the one at Pullman Regional Hospital was just unbelievable,” says Taylor. “The staff was so sweet and kind to me and my wife, and everyone made us feel important. It felt like I was the only patient they had that day.”
“Throughout my recovery, Dr. Tingstad checked in with me and my physical therapist up in Coeur d’Alene to ensure I was progressing properly,” says Taylor. He returned to Inland Orthopaedics’ Pullman office for his post-op appointment and purposefully entered through the front entrance of Pullman Regional Hospital, rather than the doors closer to the clinic, just so he could see the front desk attendants again. “They were so friendly and welcoming both on the day of my surgery and when I returned for my follow-up appointment,” he recalled.
After a long six months away from the greens, Taylor is excited to be back and is gearing up for a big golf season ahead, including some tournament appearances and another busy season at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course.
